At Frederick Nattrass Primary Academy we value the performing arts and it is an integral part of our curriculum.
Entitlement for all
Every child from nursery to Year 6 will be given the opportunity, and encouraged to perform in a musical theatre production at Christmas.
Every child from Year 1 to Year 6 will be given the opportunity, and encouraged to take part in a class assembly at least twice a year.
We work closely with Apollo Arts to deliver high quality music teaching to all children from Year 2 to Year 6. They will learn about musical notation, playing an instrument, rhythm and performing.
Children from Foundation Stage and Year 1experience music as part of their daily lessons.
All Year 6 children take part in a musical theatre performance at the end of the year.
Every child from Reception to Year 6 visits the theatre in December to see a pantomime
By the time they leave our school, every child will have visited the theatre to see a production of a book they are studying (in 2013 we saw Goodnight Mr Tom)
Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to take part in a production of a Shakespeare play at a local theatre.
We have a school choir that practice with Apollo Arts once a week - they perform at local events.
In October our Year 5 class performed 'Romeo and Juliet' on the stage at Middlesbrough Theatre as part of the Shaekespeare Schools' Festival. Here they are in a rehearsal...
