Rainbow Trust Fundraising Supports Families with Seriously Ill Children

Northern Education Trust has announced that academies across the trust have collectively raised an impressive £22,680 for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, following a year of creative and enthusiastic fundraising.

Students, staff and families took part in a wide range of activities, including colour runs, quizzes, school fairs and community events, all contributing to the outstanding total. The fundraising effort reflects a shared commitment across the trust to supporting families facing the challenges of serious childhood illness.

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides practical and emotional support to families caring for a child with a life-threatening or terminal condition. Central to its work are Family Support Workers, who help families manage hospital appointments and treatment schedules while supporting everyday family life. They also spend time with siblings, offering reassurance and care so parents can focus on their child’s medical needs or take a short but much-needed break.

The funds raised by Northern Education Trust are expected to cover a full year of support for around 11 families, ensuring they receive consistent care during incredibly difficult circumstances.

Katherine Burgess, Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager at Rainbow Trust, expressed gratitude for the trust’s support, saying the donation would make a meaningful difference by allowing families to receive help when they need it most, ensuring they are not left to cope alone.
